Dan Jefferies is an interesting individual who has taken every health obstacle thrown at him in his stride.
Funny, eloquent, slightly barmy, a little bit too soft for his own good but never boring.
The information in this book regarding more than one, rare condition is invaluable, it highlights the difficulty in diagnosis, the similarities and variations within the same conditions, the many emotions many of us go through and how his support network was so key to carry him through to the point he is at now.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Well done Dan.
Me Myself and Eye is a frank and funny autobiographical account of Dan’s life, his loves… and his extraordinary afflictions.
His tales are told through a playfully interwoven pair of stories. One presents a frank and honest discussion of his life & family, his relationships and his work. The other tracks Dan’s dealings with his health and with countless hospital visits.
It’s honest. Dan’s values and principles are consistently and unashamedly articulated. It’s amusing. Including cheeky asides and well timed reveals. It’s emotional. You get the sense of Dan’s rollercoaster of confidence as fate and fortune swing by.
Aside from this book providing insights into Dan’s unfortunately impressive inventory of his own of suffering, it also offers the reader a parallel multimedia path to follow 🙂 Throughout the story a system of footnotes provide witty interjections, reflective comments, & indicate where additional information or media can be found, via the companion website (available at [...]).
Was lucky to get the book signed by the auhor Dan who is an amazing person. Thanks a lot!
Brilliant! A thoroughly interesting and compelling read, written in a friendly, conversational and at times, humorous style, with no holds barred. You are just left wanting to shake this man's hand for coping so well with what life has thrown at him.
A wonderfully well written quality book for all ages. This will have you laughing & crying. The authors incredible factual journey through various medical problems.
Charming, expansive memoir about a rare problem. I learned a lot!
A refreshingly honest memoir...and an excellent read, particularly for a first book.
Admittedly I may have donated some money via Kickstarter, also being an Old Elizabethan, so am naturally pleased to see it published. Even so, if you have any association with Bristol, music, QEH, or obscure medical complaints (not necessarily in that order) you simply must buy this book, it's really good.
This book is a must read!
What a great read!
Interesting, funny and quite poignant in places, I found this book to be a real page turner. The author Dan tells a really honest, funny, touching and thoroughly compelling story about the events that have shaped his life. In addition there are some quite fascinating insights into the two rare medical conditions that have affected his story, and an abundance of additional material shared through footnote links to a website such as the music he produces and pictures that illustrate people and events referenced in the book. The most interesting book I have read in quite some time.
